I am sure you have questions, and I have answers. Here are some of my most frequently asked questions, so everybody benefits.
Do you only book really expensive trips ?
No - I don't just book expensive trips, but I equally so I'm not about selling commodity holidays that you could easily buy online with the click of the button and flash of your credit card.
How do you make money ?
The whole of the travel industry works on a model of nett rates, commissions and over rides and incentive based targets. Regardless of how you book your holiday, someone is making money on it somewhere somehow. Trust me on this. I've worked in the industry to know who's making what where and when...
My ' commission' is paid to me, by the Tour Operator when you've successfully returned from your holiday. Booking a holiday through me should not be vastly different price wise by putting it together yourself. Professionals like myself and my partners have some tricks up our sleeves to remain competitive.
Who are your clients?
Most of my clients are referrals and their family and friends. Many of whom have asked me to book their Africa trips with me for many years. It is now fantastic to be in a position to assist with travel requirements throughout the world.
Where do you add value to my holiday?
It is my job to find out and know about what you are looking for in your holiday. Be warned, I'm going to ask you lots of questions, from budget to timings, to where you've been before, holidays you've absolutely loved and holidays you wouldn't want to repeat.
Everyone has different kinds of specifics, but the kind of things I've had to arrange include ensuring that a resort is fully accessible for a disabled guests, but still has all things to keep a 15 year old teenager happy. Finding hairdressers in Walvis Bay after a dusty trip around Namibia. Recommending restaurants in Barcelona, and finding a birding guide that know their Finfoots from their Broadbills.
Why should I book with you - I can do it myself !
Great and I'm not going to argue with that.
However for some people, employing the services of a private travel consultant ensures they get exactly what they need and some of my clients simply don't have the time or don't want to.
What is the cheapest way to paint your house ? Do it yourself - however when I do that I usually spend way too much money in B&Q, I don't have the right equipment, make a god awful mess and invariably need a new carpet once I've finished. Calling in a good decorator means the job gets done on time, to budget and with no tears.
As we know from lockdown, if you watch enough You Tube videos, anyone should be able to cut hair, . However based on my efforts, I've not been let loose on my husband's hair since the hairdressers reopened.
I'm not arguing that everyone has to have a decorator, or that everyone needs the services of a hairdresser, my point is that some people prefer it and its those kind of clients I work with.
